How the VÕS APP helps improve mental wellbeing
Improving any aspect of mental wellbeing starts and ends with the individual who needs it. The first step, identifying that you need someone to talk to, is the biggest step you will take, everything gets easier after this. A clinical experiment was conducted by Professor Hall from the University of Kansas. The experiment was to determine if meaningful conversations reduced stress and anxiety in students. During the study, the team of scientists looked at the mental health of more than 900 university students. Each participant filled in a daily survey to outline their feelings of anxiety, stress, loneliness and happiness after engaging in one of the seven communication behaviours. Professor Hall concluded: “This study suggests that anyone who makes time for high-quality conversation can improve their well-being. We can change how we feel on any given day through communication. Just once is all it takes.” The seven types of communication that benefits your mental wellbeing include showing care, listening, offering sincere compliments, meaningful talk, joking around, catching up and valuing others and their opinions. Finally, Professor Hall stated: “Across these three studies, quality conversation mattered most for connection and stress. This supports the idea that we use communication to get our need to belong met, and, in doing so, it helps us manage our stress.” This study can be found at https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2023/feb/speaking-to-a-friend-at-least-once-a-day-can-improve-your-mental-health.html The VÕS HELP app will connect millions of people around the world, to talk about anything they want, and result in everyone leaving the call less stressed, and with an improved mental wellbeing. A study by the National Institute of Health discovered that: ‘Roughly half of all lifetime mental disorders in most studies start by the mid‐teens and three‐fourths by the mid‐20s’ In addition to this, most people aged 12-60, would prefer to talk to a stranger about their issues rather than a friend or member of the family. The VÕS HELP app is designed for complete anonymity. This design allows the user to speak about anything, in a safe and judgement free environment. Sharing your deepest emotions with an impartial stranger has been proven to dramatically improve your mental wellbeing. The second biggest issue in the UK (the first being the lack of mental health provisions) is the speed in which someone who needs help is connected to someone who can give it. In a recent report from NHS England, an average wait time was determined for people needing mental health support: ‘75% of people referred to the IAPT programme begin treatment within 6 weeks of referral, and 95% begin treatment within 18 weeks of referral’ The full report can be found at https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/iapt-wait-times-guid.pdf The VÕS HELP app can connect you to a helper in under 60 seconds. Thus, iradicating the first and second greatest issues surrounding mental health in the UK.

How THE VÕS APP EMPOWERS YOU TO HELP OTHERS
VÕS HELP also benefits the wellbeing of the professional counsellor. Every counsellor that signs up with VÕS HELP, and completes the training, has higher job satisfaction, and a significant reduction in stress. Indeed carried out a study on mental health professionals and the endless benefits of becoming a mental health counsellor: ‘One of the top reasons many people become mental health therapists is that they find the work rewarding. Helping people work through their problems and feel better about themselves and their lives makes mental health therapists feel good about their actions. Mental health therapists play a role in helping people get better and stronger. For those people who like to help others, this can be a satisfying career choice.’ In addition, another major benefit to improving the mental wellbeing of the counsellor is stated: ‘For those who enjoy variety and versatility, working as a mental health therapist could be an excellent job for you. In this line of work, you meet a wide range of people from all diverse cultures, backgrounds and locations. You may sometimes work with older adults and other times with young children, and you could work with a group or one-on-one with a single individual. Also, therapists may hear about various problems and concerns from clients, from relationship issues to worries about self-esteem or aging. This diversity in clientele and subject matter is a plus for many therapists.’ The full study can be found at https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/finding-a-job/pros-cons-being-mental-health-therapist One phone call with VÕS HELP as a counsellor, helping someone who needs you, empowers you to help more and more people. If this is multiplied throughout the world, counsellors will find their calling and therefore, have complete job satisfaction, saving lives in the process. In addition to all the benefits to the counsellor, the benefits to the UK will also be irradicated: ‘There are not enough trained staff in the health and social care system to treat and support people with mental illness. Doctors spoke of their frustrations that their job is made harder, and their patients’ care’ made worse, by a lack of staff who can provide good quality mental healthcare. It is, primarily, a case of insufficient numbers, with vacancies and rates of turnover too high, and levels of recruitment and retention too low. The problem is made worse by not having the right mix of staff to provide strong multidisciplinary care.’ This report is from the British Medical Association that was carried out recently and can be found here: https://www.bma.org.uk/what-we-do/population-health/supporting-peoples-mental-health/failing-mental-healthcare-system The result is that the UK desperately needs to connect counsellors with people who need them fast. Working as a counsellor for VÕS HELP will connect you as a counsellor, to someone who needs help in under 60 seconds. In conclusion, the VÕS HELP app improves the mental health of the user, and the counsellor. A simple conversation between 2 humans has been proven to change the trajectory of your future.
